Contrasting Spatial Qualities
Located in the inner city suburb of Parkside, the task was to extend an existing heritage home; to create a modern and yet comfortable environment for living that utilizes every bit of space wisely and incorporates the outside. The Owners recognised the value of their generous inner-city allotment and were keen to maintain their landscape whilst upgrading their home.
The owner’s Architects explain that this design; “is not a single architectural flourish but, a mix of volumes, materials, detailing, light and views. It explores the occupants’ relationship with the natural environment through a number of different spatial and sensory experiences.”
Built by Soriano, the textural external materials are carried inside with the openings to North and South providing a feeling of transparency linking the outdoor and indoor spaces.
